Independent film lab · Bandar Sunway

About the Lab

Latent Image Labs is a small film developing and scanning studio built for people who want careful, human attention on every frame.

A strip of developed photographic film

Our story

Made by people who still shoot film

We opened in Bandar Sunway in 2023 to make analogue photography easier to approach. Beginners can ask questions at the counter, while experienced photographers can request specific processing and scanning choices.

Instead of relying on one automatic preset, we inspect each roll and adjust scans by hand. Our aim is simple: return photographs that feel like the moment the photographer remembers.

What we do

One counter for the whole roll

C-41 colour

Fresh chemistry for colour-negative film, followed by individually corrected scans.

Black & white

Small-batch hand processing matched to the film stock and requested contrast.

E-6 slide

Careful transparency processing, dust-controlled drying and optional mounted slides.

Scanning & film stock

Standard or high-resolution scans, plus a curated shelf of 35mm and 120 film.

From canister to download

How we handle a roll

  1. 01

    Receive and label

Every roll receives a tracking reference with its film type, requested service and customer instructions.

  2. 02

    Develop carefully

We confirm the chemistry and temperature before processing, then dry negatives in a dust-controlled space.

  3. 03

    Scan by eye

A technician checks exposure and colour frame by frame instead of accepting an automatic result.

  4. 04

    Deliver and explain

Scans arrive through a download link, while negatives are returned cut, sleeved and ready to archive.
